Here at Shipps Garage in Upton-Upon-Severn we Mot Vehicles and Motor Bikes and we pride ourselves on ensuring your vehicle is safe to drive. Nearly a quarter of all Mot test could qualify for a first time pass by simply checking your lights before you take your vehicle for it's annual inspection, 23% fail on lights. If all your vehicle needs is a bulb then 9 times out of 10 we will fit one free of charge. We like to look after our customers and hope they will come back year after year. With brake related failures at 23% and Suspension failures at 18% we can all see the importance of our yearly Mot. Other fail items are as follows. Tyres 10%, Fuel and Emmisions 9%, Drivers view 7%, Steering 3%, Body 3%, Seat Belts 3% and Registation or Vin Numbers 1%. Our repair side at the garage is unrelated to the Mot Test and it is of no monetary benefit to fail your vehicle. In fact if we can get your vehicle through it's Mot first attempt we will. |
We welcome any Motor Bicycles and ClassIV vehicle. Where most garages hate Classics we welcome them and Campers or Motor Homes are equally welcome. Car MOT £45. No ReTest fee within 10 days |
Here at Shipps Garage we charge £45 for a Car or Van Mot. We do not charge a re-test fee as long as you bring back your vehicle for a re-test within 10 days. You can either ring us to book your test on 01684 592656 or send us an email by clicking the link at the top of this page. Mot tests are booked every 3/4 hour starting at 9 O,Clock and the last test of the day booked at 4.30. Saturday tests booked from 9 O,Clock. Mot parking is to the rear of the garage and the office is at the back as well. |

A very common MOT failure on front wheel drive vehicles is a split Constant Velocity Boot (CV Boot) as can be seen in the picture below on the left. The CV Boot is packed inside with grease. The rubber boot is subjected to a very hard life with dirt, water oil and stretching when the vehicle makes a turn. Over time the boot will split or become insecure when this happens the CV Joint itself may become damaged due to lack of lubrication. |
Good brakes are an essential item on any vehicle Brake discs especially on the front need to be inspected and maintaned to ensure your vehicle will stop you. The picture above and to the left shows a bad crack this may of been caused by heat which led to an hairline crack and develped into what you see. Brake discs items that can lead to an MOT failure include, Excessively worn, excessively pitted and excessively corroded brake discs. Worn brake discs can also lead to front brake imbalance. |
As can be seen in the picture top left this is an excessively leaking Shock Absorber and presentation of this in an MOT test would lead to a failure being issued. Other failure items with shock absorbers include negligible damping effect, an excessively worn shock absorber linkage, pivot or bush and external damage or corrosion to the casing of a shock absorber so that the unit does not function. The fitting of shock absorbers is basically to minimize bounce. Without them a vehicle would have excessive bounce and make the vehicle harder to control. |
